All my life I have been fascinated by color and the play of light and shadow.   During my elementary school years, I drew every chance I got.  My parents encouraged my artistic bent by enrolling me in art classes and taking me to visit the Chicago Art Museum.  I continued to draw and paint through high school but it wasn’t until college that I began to see art in a broader context. While attending the University of Colorado I took a job with a prestigious gallery in Boulder.  It was there that I met well-known artists like Robert Daughters and William Hook.

It was during this time period that I began taking private lessons from nationally known pastel artist, Sara Oakley.  Having never painted with pastels before, I found that they were the perfect medium for my style and gave me the rich colors I loved.

I went back to school and earned my teaching certification from Mesa State College.  As part of my curriculum, I took art classes designed for teachers.  Encouraged by my professors and peers, I began to see myself more and more as a “real artist”.

In 2006 my family and I moved to the Northwest where we have made our home in Bothell, Washington.  Here, I am exploring a whole new kind of beautiful scenery as inspiration for my art.  My passion for painting, and desire to succeed as an artist, has continued to grow.

In 2005, I won the Plum Creek Winery Award and have shown my work at venues in Colorado and Washington including the High Country Treasures Gallery near Aspen and the O.K. Gallery in Seattle.
I was drawn to the vibrant colors and lively style of their paintings.  In 1999 my family and I moved from the Front Range to Western Colorado.  The red rock canyons with their constantly changing light and the rich colors of the high desert became inspiration for my paintings.
